Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin® are considered wrinkle-relaxing botulinum toxins that are used aesthetically to improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines), as well as lines and wrinkles on the forehead, around the eyes (crow’s feet), and around the mouth.

For the vast majority of patients, dramatic improvement in facial appearance can be enjoyed within 1 to 10 days following neurotoxin cosmetic injection treatments. Results from these injections last for an average of about three to six months. It is important to note that maintaining results for long periods of time will require maintenance treatments, so be sure to plan ahead!

Unlike other cosmetic treatments for reducing wrinkles, Botox®, Dysport® and Xeomin® offer no downtime. For this reason, many patients come in for these injections during their lunch hour and return to work immediately after. In the days just after receiving injections, some slight bruising may be noticeable in some patients. This is a temporary side-effect and can be easily covered with makeup during the healing process.

Most patients report being very comfortable while receiving injections. Some do experience mild discomfort, such as the sensation of a slight pinprick. However, there is no real pain. Prior to neurotoxin injections, it is important to avoid alcoholic beverages and anti-inflammatory medications and supplements, including aspirin and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen, Advil®, Motrin®, Nuprin®, Aleve®, Celebrex®, Fish oil, Gingko Biloba, St. John's Wort and high doses of vitamin E for at least 7-10 days before your scheduled appointment, unless medically necessary. It is also recommended that your appointments for these treatments be scheduled at least two weeks prior to any special meetings or events.

YES! Many people experience excessive underarm sweating, or axillary hyperhydrosis. This condition can be both uncomfortable and embarrassing in a variety of private settings and social contexts. Through injecting directly into the underarm, neurotoxin can be used to effectively treat hyperhydrosis by blocking the release of the chemical responsible for stimulating the sweat glands. This treatment offers the patient minimal discomfort and virtually no downtime, and a single treatment session can provide months of continuous relief for the patient. To maintain results, neurotoxin injections for hyperhydrosis can be repeated indefinitely once or twice per year.
